“All the world’s a stage, and all the men and women merely players; they have their exits and their entrances….” ~William Shakespeare, As You Like It
I started this blog to write about polyamory at the suggestion of a few friends, but it’s morphed into just writing about my life and the lessons I’ve learned on my Journey. Being polyamorous and married just happens to be part of the surrealness that is my life. I write about being poly and other relationships, about being the parent of a queer gender-neutral teenager, about my work as a massage therapist, about my spiritual journey. Sometimes I do awesome things. Sometimes I frak up royally. My life is far from perfect, but it’s a good life and a largely happy one.
Cast of My Surreal Poly Life (cast subject to occasional changes)
Kitten Darling: That’s me!
Husband Darling: My best friend and life partner. I hit the Relationship Jackpot when I met this man. I could go on and on about how wonderful he is, but I’ll save that for a post.
Kidlet Darling (aka Boo): My teenager, from a prior relationship, with whom we are open about being poly.
SweetBee: My dear friend, Heart Sister, and platonic wife. She and Husband Darling are…dating…sorta, but mostly flirty and openly affectionate with each other.
Twinnie: I always knew I should have been a twin, but apparently we would’ve been too much to handle for just one set of parents. So the stork placed her with another family three months before me, and we were reunited 25+ years later. (That’s our story, and we’re sticking to it!) We have matching dragonfly tattoos and fiesty attitudes.
Kissing Friend: A kinky friend I met at a munch a couple years ago, but didn’t start dating until the beginning of 2014.
Bird (aka Birdie): Fantastic friend, Heart Sister, and spiritual sister. She and I share an ex-partner, which is how we met. Husband Darling and I got to keep her in the “divorce”.
Rabbit: Bird’s delightfully tall husband. He is the proverbial gentle giant who makes our Birdie glow with happiness.
